Why PST appears in so many schedules
Software and media companies headquartered on the West Coast habitually publish times in Pacific. A product keynote at “10 AM PT” is 1 PM in New York, 6 PM in London in winter, and 11:30 PM in India. Audiences outside America often watch recordings, because the live time is late at night.
For developers and support teams in India, PST is the awkward partner. The gap is 13 hours 30 minutes in winter and 12 hours 30 minutes in summer, so a meeting in the Pacific morning lands in the Indian late evening. The normal compromise is a 7 or 8 AM Pacific call, which is 8:30 or 9:30 PM in India.
Pacific is also the farthest west the continental US goes, so it is the last place where the working day ends. A deadline of “end of day Pacific” gives everyone else in the country three hours of slack, which is why submission portals run on Pacific time so often.

“next day” and “previous day” mean the other zone is on a different calendar date from PST at that moment.
PST, PT and the Philippine Standard Time clash
“PT” means Pacific Time and covers PST in winter and PDT in summer. Using “PST” for a July date is a common slip. A booking for “9 AM PST” in July is, strictly, one hour earlier than a 9 AM Los Angeles wall clock.
The Philippines also abbreviates its official time as PST, Philippine Standard Time, which is UTC+8. That is exactly 16 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time, so a PST label from a Manila-based sender and one from a San Francisco-based sender describe times that are two thirds of a day apart.
Pakistan sometimes appears as PST in older documents as well, although PKT is the usual form. If you are not sure, ask for the city or the UTC offset, or use PT in your own messages.
